Building your Custom Home is certainly a life-changing experience. We want it to be an exhilarating and uplifting event, but sometimes fear it will be unpleasant, or even disastrous. In my experience, most projects are a lot of fun, but they often have their share of unique challenges. Having built hundreds homes, I can count on one hand the number of projects that have been problem-free from start to finish. And even those had some minor issues. In the reality that we all live in, it’s not a perfect world and “stuff” happens. How we deal with these challenges is what separates the professional from the novice.
I’ve often heard it said, “If Home Building was that easy everyone would do it.” The fact is, almost anyone can do it. This really isn’t brain surgery, although I’ve had headaches that sometimes made it feel that way. Custom home building takes knowledge, experience and the right attitude. For those who want to take this on, I suggest consulting with an expert at the very least. A pro can surely save you time and money. For those who either don’t want to or can’t take on this immense task, you will need to carefully select someone who you can trust and communicate effectively with.
